Frontwoman for the indie rock darlings the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has announced earlier today that she will be putting out a solo record this September. The album is entitled Crush Songs and yes the title does have some significance. “When I was 27, I crushed a lot. I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They were the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.” She said in a note that was attached to her announcement.
Karen O has never released a solo record although she has done some semi solo work on the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been active for fourteen years and have put out four studio albums, the fourth one Mosquito having just launched last year.
