Last year James Bond came back with a vengeance. After the stellar reboot that was Casino Royale they followed up with the slightly disappointing Quantum of Solance. Just last year director Sam Mendes took Bond for his 23rd adventure and the third to feature Daniel Craig. While Skyfall was not just a commercial success it was also a critical success as the film threw in some old time references in what would be the 50th anniversary flick for the spy with the license to kill.
After several months of debate Mendes has announced that he will return to direct the untitled follow up that is slated for release on November 6th 2015. Both Mendes and Craig will be returning as will Skyfall scribe John Logan . Mendes originally turned it down because he had previous stage obligations with stage productions of King Lear and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He mentioned how the producers allowed him to fulfill those obligations which thus have allowed him to direct the untitled sequel.
Skyfall was the highest grossing film in the history of the UK and the 8th highest grossing film of all time. Here’s to hoping the next Bond flick is as good as Skyfall was.
