As South Park wraps up it’s fifteenth season on Comedy Central the show has been announced to have been picked up for three more seaons but another source says that it has been renewed for five more seaons. Soouth Park is one of the longest running shows on American television¬† behind it’s more tamer contemporary The Simpsons.

Popular Sitcom Shelved, Mildly Retarded Sitcom Stays…The American Way

So last week popular television program Community was placed on indefinite hiatus by the Peacock, NBC in order to make room for the return of 30 Rock and some other silly sitcom. While the show’s ratings were down the reviews constantly said what a great program Community was, while the new show Whitney has received critical dislike but great ratings. So the decision had to be made, keep a ratings booster or keep a fan favorite. There is no word on when the show will return if at all. The show’s stars already took to Twitter and other social media, which is how I had found out about the show being canceled.

Though there is a possibility of the show returning during the slow summer months that seems doubtful. One can only hope that the new program replacing it or even Whitney stumbles down the stretch and the program goes back on. Personally I felt that NBC must see tv on Thursday has deteriorated in recent years but came back with a boom with the debut of Community and the return of decent episodes of The Office and of course the favorite 30 Rock. Adding Parks and Rec to the mix made it a solid night for television essentially adding to the bonanza of other programs including FX’s Archer, It’s Always Sunny, The League all making Thursday the TV night, now without Community to kick it off what happens next?

Oh and if you are wondering, that one clip started a trend on the internet the next few weeks. What has Whitney done?

So This Happened Earlier This Week

At his yearly fundraiser for Parkinson’s Research former Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox, and well known sufferer of Parkinson’s, appeared on stage and played the same exact song on guitar that he did in the first film, Johnny B. Goode. The fact that Fox was able to play the guitar with the general effects of the disease is what’s so impressive. And yes it was on the same day as the Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. Clever Mr. Fox

Uncharted 3 Review

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is game of the year. That’s the easy assumption. But the majority of the voters would hand it off to Skyrim before it even drops based off the anticipation alone. What this game though does is it elevates the art level that is video games up to the highest peak. At times you feel like you are actually watching an action flick straight from the 1980’s, the glory years of the action film genre. Nathan Drake feels more and more like a buy able everyday normal guy thrown into extraordinary circumstances. Sure the game is one of the best of the year but it also might be a highlight in this generation of games. While the first two games in the series follow a basic formula of setting up the plot early, adding in some betrayal and then throwing in some super natural the first 70% of the game actually doesn’t contain any of that. It’s as if you are watching a summer blockbuster. What Naughty Dog does so well with this series outweighs what it doesn’t do exactly right. While most gamers complained about Nate’s clunky melee combat the developers took that to heart and tweaked it a bit to make it more cinematic and slightly more formulaic. But for gamers like me I play for the story and the Uncharted series features stories that leave you enthralled for hours on end. If I didn’t have a job, friends or even a girlfriend I am sure I would end up sitting there playing this game from start to finish in one big sitting. But if I am saying just this before the jump bet you are wondering what I’m going to say after??

Uncharted 3, Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, Assasin’s Creed All In 3 Weeks…Oh and Zelda Too

It’s that time of the year where not only are the movie companies stock piling Academy Award nominated films in theaters and child friendly films, video game companies are doing the same. When the beginning of the year came with little to no pomp. If I remember correctly the first big title was Dead Space 2 and maybe even Mass Effect 2 on the PS3. The year was slow. inFAMOUS 2 and LA Noire followed a hot May with titles like Duke Nukem and Alice. But October to November is where it’s all at. I include October for the two titles that actually mean anything to anyone. Battlefield 3, COD’s only real competitor in the market was launched and yet it still doesn’t even match how powerful the Modern Warfare fanbase is. And then there was Arkham City. The highest reviewed game of the year, at the time of course. Some people were ready to give it game of the year but forgot that November and December existed. Uncharted 3 is the newest favorite for GOTY earning ten out of tens from many places but with COD being the largest release of the year, a man threatened to blow up a Best Buy cause they were out of stock. But with November 15ths final chapter of the Ezio story coming out we all forget about what many had hailed as GOTY earlier, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. And at midnight on 11/11/11 gamers will get their chance to play the long awaited sequel. Now of course we all know that the only hardcore gaming platforms are PC, PS3 and X-Box so we easily overlook the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and a new Mario land game on the 3DS. All this in November. God gamers are lucky.

Hello World

It has been a while since I have posted here, the Arkham City review being my last post and I hadn’t finished the game up when I wrote it up. Unfortunately I have been pulling 40 hour work weeks that often leave me too drained to post anything that I normally would be posting on this site. Stories such as the Simpsons getting the axe never got it’s follow up and thus seems like I am a bad reporter. The fact is the show isn’t getting canned. As well as Matt Smith not leaving the show after just two or three seasons. It would be quite sad if the last few posts on this blog were just video game reviews, as Uncharted 3 gets it’s review underway and then leading up to the Assassin’s Creed review that is sure to follow. Just wanted to make this post to say I am not dead.
