Yeppers that is right. With the recent weekend news that the Farro brothers are leaving the band things began to take a turn for the worst. Hayley Williams stated in the press release “None of us were really shocked. For the past year, it hasn’t seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore … We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy, and if that isn’t here with us, then we support them in finding happiness elsewhere.” Williams comment opened up the Pandora’s Box of Paramore’s closeted skeletons.
Josh Farro came out and posted on his blog what he deemed the truth. The video was taken down by youtube on claims of nudity, probably Hayley Williams needing protecting.
“Let me start by apologizing to you for the way everything went down on Saturday. I had a statement typed ready to post to you guys but Hayley released one without my permission,” his statement begins. “I wish it didn’t have to happen that way, Zac and I wanted to be the ones you heard it from. I want to be honest with you guys about how this band formulated from day one. I did not think Hayley’s version told the whole story, at least from our perspective and hopefully this will explain a bit about why we are leaving.”
Farro’s post according to MTV reports that he was taking hot shots at the band, but then again this is MTV and they love them some Paramore. Farro continued, by claiming that Williams is the only member of the band signed to Atlantic Records, and that her bandmates were simply “riding on the coattails of ‘Hayley’s dream.’ ” These statements are pretty heavy in any term of the word. Farro mentioned how they (the rest of the band) would be waiting in the hotel lobby while Hayley took hours to show, turns out she was with label execs.
The post continues along as Farro states that “The band was in the dark the whole time. After many meetings between Hayley, her manager and the labels they decided to sign her to Atlantic Records. We didn’t understand why Hayley was the only one signing the contract since we were told this was a ‘band,’ but we were too young to grasp all of this. … Next thing we knew we were having a signing party for Hayley.”
He went on to state that Williams was being controlled by her parents and label big wigs through her career. Farro’s statement went on to bash the young singer but maybe his anger is rightful in the fact that if these statements are true then there is some serious problems in the music industry that need looking at.
But then again if selling out and betraying your friends is the right thing to do then go for it Hayley, compromise your morals and your Christian views just so you can attain the fame you so desire. “How did we get here? I used to know you so well” is the words that leave Williams mouth as she enters and leaves the bank on a Friday afternoon.
