ALBUM REVIEW: Matt and Kim’s Sidewalks

Back in 2004 two people from Brooklyn met up and were probably thinking, HEY LETS MAKE A BAND! The duo probably thought HEY IF THE WHITE STRIPES CAN DO IT, WHY CAN’T WE. So in 2006 the band put out their first album which just so happened to be self titled. Three years later they put out their mainstream hit Grand which featured several prominent hits such as “Good Ol’ Fashioned Nightmare”, “Daylight” and “Don’t Slow Down” while Grand got them a name the band wanted to make more music and obviously be known for more than a catchy chorus.

On this coming Tuesday the band will put out their third effort to the world entitled Sidewalks. The album though has a lead single called “Cameras” which is already stellar. The album itself is a rip roaring dancing good time that everyone should give a listen to and should feature some prominent singles.

ALBUM REVIEW: Belle and Sebastian Write About Love

Belle and Sebastian are a baroque pop group from Scotland. Simple as that. They have released a plethora of music during their going on fifteen year existence. I personally got hooked on them through the Juno soundtrack a few years ago and I just can’t stop listening to the soothing melodies of the group. In 2006 the band put out what some thought was their last studio effort “The Life Pursuit” then they all went their separate ways.

Yet four years later they put out their next effort in the genre and continue to amaze listeners and woo them. “Belle and Sebastian Write About Love” or “Write About Love” in short is a splendid follow up to former B+S albums and it doesn’t lose the feel that you would get from their other works. Loaded with guest appearances from actress Carey Mulligan to pop singer Norah Jones this album is ripe with romantic conquest.

Movie News!!!

Guess what movie now has a place to shoot? That’s right the Hobbit. Apparently New Zealand begged New Line and the rest of America’s film industry to revoke the ban and even offered money to help pay for the filming in their own little island. So does this mean the Hobbit can begin filming in February like planned? It has a cast, pre-production is done, director and script are there, holy shit I think this movie might come out…PS I never really liked the Hobbit anyways…

More Hobbit News

Not that anyone cares at this point about the movie event that won’t happen. Apparently the other day NZ unions begged the Screen Actor’s Guild to lift the ban so the film can be shot there. Apparently they did, but director Peter Jackson said hell no to shooting in NZ. So all the preproduction work has to be done for another place and without a cast…AH BUT WAIT! Jackson is set to announce that Sir Ian McKellan will return as Gandalf. But we have a Bilbo Baggins and his name is Martin Freeman, most well known to Americans as Arthur Dent in the 2005 semi-flop The Hichhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Also the 10th Doctor is rumored to be in this film. Ever since he stopped doing Who he hasn’t been around that much to American viewers.

Fallout Rant

Those of you who know me know I love video games. I’m a nerd. I own an X-Box 360 and a Playstation 3. I’ve disowned my Nintendo Wii. My PC is custom built and can handle most games on the highest settings. I love games. I play all types of games from sports games to RPGs to FPS (first person shooters).

the Hobbit Movie Update

Breaking news….it ain’t happening. That’s right. Apparently Peter Jackson says something along the lines of the fact that they were unable to film in New Zealand (the place where LOTR was shot) due to some labor dispute. Looks like this film has 4 months to get all the pre-production work done before the shoot in February. This is a giant set back for the Hobbit project once more. As there is no cast or even a script that we are aware of we have more hope for there being a Deadpool movie with Ryan Reynolds.
